may time na sng una nag tukar cya sa da-an nga 012....

Ahay.. It's true that most of the Jazzers have few gigs in Iloilo its becaue gamay man lang di ang jazz afficionado sa aton kag laban man di nga bars guina cater ang Pop music than Jazz..... maybe isa ni ka factor.......

Rey Infante is in Bangkok, Thailand .. didto, Buhi guid katama ang Jazz.... May tukar man ang Jazzers dri sa Iloilo but kalabanan sa private parties lang kag iya man ka party sang musician.....

Lastly, indi lang di si Ray ang ga buhi sang Jazz sa Iloilo, although ang tanan nga musician na nag upod sa iya nag tubo musically wise. kadamo pa guid da nga manami nga mag tukar JAZz, pareho kay Ricky.. Pat Metheny style nya... gusto mo Jaco Pastorius ???? mati ka kay Neyong aka Boy Artajo..... and gusto mo mamati sa isa ka versatile drummer ???? ara man si Tonio Artajo. May Mario Espino and Dotdoy para sa keybordista... aysus si Pidoy pa guid gale...isa pa guid na ka versatile Drummer, isa sa guina respeto sang tanan sa MUsic Industry sang Iloilo.

Jazz is not just about money, nga pdamo-damo tukar but it's about PAUTWAS ( and right pautwas ha ) sa skills mo and improvisations, la na sila labot kung gamay tukar nila or kung la guid gane... ang importante maka pautwas guid sila ...............

hello peeps... weird- been here sa iloilo 4 quite some time, now ko lang na-discover ini nga site... anyways, i used to do professional drumming in manila- R&B/Jazz fussion/Reggae binabanatan ko b4 i focused sa corporate life... i been here more than a yr, and i yet have to see a good jazz band play... nagsasawa nko sa mga banda sa Paprika, MO2, etc. tho i can say they're good nman... ngalang, i'd luv hearing stuff like Incognito/Brand new heavies, SOS, Tower of Power, Steely Dan, etc. being played sana in the future...

...would luv to jam to, if time (& sked...) permits...

bro drumtraveller, i doubt if u know me coz i dnt really go out much- grabe ubra ko subong, plus- its year-end so grabe... yup, those groups i posted are influences of mine, plus nice listening; i've always been open to lotsa music, that's why diverse ang hilig ko... tho my influences really aren't heavily/strictly jazz, but more avant garde/eclectic: Sting/Police, chick corea, Tower of Power, Fourplay, Toto, Dave Matthews, ... actually damu pa, nde ngalang jazz, like Soundgarden, Simply Red, Living Color, Big Country, Redhot Chilli Peppers, No Doubt, Erika Badu, etc...

in terms of 'drumming influences', i dug heavily on steve gadd, vinnie colaiuta, stewart copeland, manu katche, jeff porcaro... then there's carter beauford, steve smith, chad smith, marvin smitty smith, omar hakim, ... syet- i miss my drum heads!!! its great playing- there was a time i jammed w/ sila mike alba, mar dizon, bagets (benjie mendez), jojo lim- yun mga 'session' sa manila before, maybe even upto now... my old friend mel cruz, was my bassplayer when we started sa gigs sa colleges/bars mejo dugay na- he's the bassist of Put3ska, now session na, playing sa international cruise ship/ocean liner...

kya nga jazz isn't boring stuff- case in point: Sting has been very much an avant garde artist, who relies on a lot of Jazz stuff- from improvs to solos, etc... yet nde baduy dating dba? pang-seryosong musikero...
