"Por Dios, Por Santo!" (an All Saints' Day Rock Ed Radio special)

PRIEST:
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A priest or priestess is a person having the authority or power to administer religious rites; in particular, rites of sacrifice to, and propitiation of, a deity or deities. Their office or position is the priesthood, a term which may also apply to such persons collectively.
Priests and priestesses have been known since the earliest of times and in the simplest societies. They exist in all or some branches of Judaism, Christianity, Shintoism, Hinduism, and many other religions, as well, and are generally regarded as having good contact with the deities of the religion to which he or she ascribes, often interpreting the meaning of events, performing the rituals of the religion, and to whom other believers often will turn for advice on spiritual matters.

In many religions, being a priest or priestess is a full-time job, ruling out any other career.

NUN:
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Nun is a woman who has taken special vows committing her to a religious life.[1] She may be an ascetic who voluntarily chooses to leave mainstream society and live her life in prayer and contemplation in a monastery or convent. The term "nun" is applicable to Roman Catholics, Eastern Christians, Anglicans, Lutherans, Jains, Buddhists, and Taoists, for example. While in common usage the terms nun and sister are often used interchangeably, properly speaking a nun is a female religious who lives a contemplative life of prayer and meditation within a monastery while a sister (in the Christian religions) lives an active vocation of service to the needy, sick, poor, and uneducated.[2]

----------

All Soul's Day on Rock Ed Radio!!! We will talk about Catholic vocations. Sr. Angeline, OSB (Order of St. Benedict) and Fr. Nono, SJ (Society of Jesus) will talk to us straight up about their career choice. Smile

Can you take a vacation from a vocation?

Ikaw ba eh nag-isip nang mag madre o mag pare?
Kailan 'to at ano'ng nangyari?

Nov 9 on Rock Ed Radio

MUST....KNOW....MORE..... (Reproductive Health Episode 2)

The last time we talked about the Reproductive Health bill, we had advocates of the bill with us. Since we didn't cover most of what the listeners had asked due to time limitations, we are having a part 2 of the RH episode.

RHAN (Reproductive Health Advocacy Network) will still be ably represented by Earnest Zabala et al, but at least tonight we will have another point of view from Tony de Castro, a Jesuit priest.

Progress happens because people engage in frank and respectful dialogue. Let's try this one.

What have you learned so far about the Reproductive Health bill?
Have you decided on your stand?

Let's talk about this. Yes, this is partly about sex, but also so much more.

Tune in!

Nov 30 on Rock Ed Radio >> Undress Bonifacio

Prof Arnold Azurin, Ms. Lizza Guerrero-Nakpil will talk to us about the
man called Andres Bonifacio. Not enough has been said about him and
it's high time we know more about Apo Andres.

For a nation that's supposedly desperate for heroes, we certainly don't do our homework when it comes to the obvious ones.

Tune in on Sunday~ I assure you it will be something else.

Must hear.

Nov 30 Sunday @8pm.

Dec 14 on Rock Ed Radio >> Philippine Music in 2008

Three music lovers will share their picks for 2008. Film director Quark
Henares, music critic Luis Katigbak (Mla Bulletin) and Erwin Romulo
(Phil Star/Free Press) will talk to us about the music year that is/was
2008.

Hopefully Mikey of Ciudad will join us, too.

Dec 14 on Rock Ed Radio >> What is the CARP Extension Law?

We were scheduled to talk about the QLE Music Awards this Sunday but we
decided to make way for another topic instead. We rescheduled the QLE
guesting for another time:
Two lawyers and a farmer will guest on Rock Ed Radio to talk about the
Comprehensive Agrarian Law and the fight for (or against) the extension
of it.

According to ABS-CBNnews.com "Time is running out on
Congress to extend funding for the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform
Program (CARP), and part of it is due to the strong lobby against it by
landowners, an opposition lawmaker said."

The age-old locking of
horns between land owners and tillers. Let's talk about this again and
again and again and again 'til we find the golden mean somewhere.

Learn more about the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program and learn why this has everything to do with you.

'Kala mo ata hindi ka kasali dito 'no...? Pwes...

Quote :
this Valley Golf mess

Rock Ed Radio presents a venue for many to be heard. There are always two or more sides to a story and most often we will not hear them all. This gig is not designed to resolve anything because, unfortunately, we accept that resolving this mess is not our call.

This is neither a venue to diss, berate, scare, intimidate, cheer or boo anyone for the sake of noise.

This gig is designed for everyone to talk to each other and hear opinions out. It is also a Sociological discussion on our behaviour as people with or without power, with or without fear, with or without arms, with or without a golf membership. But let's talk anyway.

We will not exactly talk about them, we will talk about US.

The panel is still being invited, but the participants (you) are definitely in. All in. Everyone invited, everyone welcome.

Rock Ed Radio will moderate the discussion, setting the ground rules for decency, politeness, and peeing before debating. Let's calmly, urgently, rabidly, intelligently, passionately discuss this situation of love and hate, war and peace. Whether you think this is an isolated case or a symptom of a bigger societal ill, come anyway and state your peaceful piece on the microphone this Friday.

We are open to re-posting of this announcement. Invitations of speakers given limited times and proper order of timing. Kindly email radio@rockedphilippines.org in advance if you want to make sure you have some time to be heard.

Come on Friday, limited seating, infinite standing.
A karaoke machine will be on standby in case we're done early. Singing of "My Way" is not allowed. If the invited bands come to play, we will make them play.

Violence, peace, power, apathy, golf etiquette, retaliation, cursing, bodyguards, crying, indignation, class-acts, decisions, blogging, reactions, sanctions, suggestions, the Philippine courts, Mindanao, golf club security measures and everything else.

Let's talk about ourselves, shall we?

Jan 18 2009 on Rock Ed Radio >> RESUSCITATING THE RADIO STAR!

Revival is the key!

This
Sunday, ROCK ED RADIO hosts the first (in a long time) radio singing
contest. It's originally entitled CPR (contest pang radyo) and it is
designed to revive the radio star.

The contest mechanics are as follows:

Secret contestant is introduced. (So, no, we cannot reveal who our guests are, but I assure you, it will be exciting.)

Singer sings a song from Ronnie Dizon's (of the Ronnies) very wide repertoire.

Listeners vote for best singer from their homes.

The
contest is not to guess who the singer is as we will reveal who they
are when the winner is declared. This tilt is designed to revive the
appreciation for the VOICE!

We will discuss singing contests in general, after. (Idol, Star Search etc etc)

Gaano ka bigat ang itchura, galaw, suot sa singing contest? Kung mabigat, eh bakit singing contest ang tawag d'on?

ITO, SINGING CONTEST LANG TALAGA. Puro, walang halo.

We will revive the radio star that video killed. Smile

We re-named the contest into the THE ANABEL BOSCH RADIO STAR singing contest.
In memoriam.

Anabel
was a Rock Ed volunteer. All 'secret' contestants are Rock Ed volunteer
musicians as well. You probably know them. (exciting)
